8th Grade Science Homework, Friday, November 4th

This weekend, your homework is to ORGANIZE your science 3-ring binder.
  • "Pockets" and "Folders" should be empty, except for your current homework assignment. Remember: do NOT use pockets for long term storage! That leads to the dreaded E.N.S. (exploding notebook syndrome!).
  • All materials from our Measurement and Density units should be at home in a folder for long-term storage. They should NOT be in your 3-ring binder any more.
  • Your science section should be empty, except for some blank looseleaf paper and perhaps some blank graph paper.
Remember: if you can keep your notebook organized today, you can also do it tomorrow! And if you do this for 30 days in a row, it will become a HABIT!

PARENTS: If your student suffers Exploding Notebook Syndrome, he or she might really benefit from some nightly feedback from you. Help them to "put away" any papers that are in their exploding notebook pockets. Once they get into the nightly habit of doing this, it will become more automatic for them. This is a crucial skill for them to develop now so that they do not become overwhelmed in high school.
